Looking out of the window I’m not sure if the summer is still here! But I’m going to try and bring it back as I still have a few of my holiday wardrobe makes to share with you.
I had this lovely bright Rico floral lime cotton fabric washed and ready to make into a pair of my fav tapered legged self drafted trousers, but then decided they might just be a bit too much in this print. A few ladies in my sewing classes have recently chosen to make this wraparound skirt from my selection of patterns that are available to borrow during classes. Its a perfect summer make, its quick and easy to make and needs very little fitting. It seemed like the ideal pattern for this fabric!
This skirt is often made up in one class session as its so quick to make. I added a couple of details to the design including mitred hem corners and a bias tied waist to make it a project with some useful skills as well as a nicely finished garment.
I also reworked my now perfected t-shirt shape into a three quarter sleeve scoop neck top. I love having a go to pattern for a top that I know works. I can rustle up a top to go with any outfit and now choose between this version or my crew neck with long or short sleeves.
I made this one in teal cotton/elastane jersey fabric. I have this fabric in a variety of colours in my shop. It has a soft handle and the elastane gives it a good weight which makes it feel great to wear as well as being easy to sew with.
A super quick and easy useful summer outfit complete in around 3 hours! happy summer days 🙂
