Sewing Patterns

The inspiration for Bobbins and Buttons sewing patterns began with Julia’s desire to make unique clothing for her own two children. The first patterns in the range are based on her first styles developed for her children and used in her classes over the years. The pattern range has developed to offer styles for all the family. Most styles have been inspired by looking for wardrobe solutions for Julia and her family.  The collection includes stylish practical garment designs to suit an everyday busy lifestyle.

Julia believes there are three main ingredients to a great sewing pattern:

A style that will stand the test of time – Sewing patterns for styles that can become wardrobe stables.  With sustainability in mind it is important to find styles that will go on for years to come. Rather than catering for fashion trends that disappear within a few months. Many of the patterns are easy fitting including all of the children’s patterns. The fitting of a garment can be one of the most time consuming part of the process of making a garment. However once you have your perfect fit and amended the pattern accordingly you will have a go to pattern ready to make another time.

Versatile – Making your own clothes or clothing for your family is a great personal expression. A pattern is like a blank canvas the fabric and trims you choose make it individual to you. You can add further individuality with your own adaptation ideas. Julia includes some of her own ideas for her patterns on the blog.

Timely – Though the slow mindful process of making something is one of the great pleasures of sewing the Bobbins and Buttons sewing pattern range is designed to be accessible to all level of sewers. The pattern range offers sewing patterns that are simple and easy to sew together so that sewing more of your own wardrobe is possible.
