Julia offers a range of sewing classes designed for everyone—from complete beginners to confident sewists. Most sessions cater to mixed abilities, allowing students to progress at their own pace.
Choose from six-week courses or individual sessions, both run weekly. These classes are tailored to your individual level and sewing goals. Before starting, you’ll have the chance to chat with Julia about your ideas and create a personalised plan for your learning.
Class sizes are kept small to ensure everyone receives plenty of focussed support. The atmosphere is always informal and friendly, encouraging creativity to flow freely. Alongside inspiration and guidance, every class includes homemade cake and fresh coffee—because creativity is best served with a treat.
Most classes are held in Countesthorpe, Leicestershire.
To help you find the right class for your experience and comfort level, some of our sessions are graded by skill. Whether you’re completely new to sewing or looking to build on what you already know, there is a class for you.
You’ve never used a sewing machine before—or perhaps it’s been a very long time! These classes are perfect for absolute beginners. You’ll learn the basics of using a sewing machine and get to know the essential tools. We start slowly and build confidence step by step.
You’ve completed one or two beginner projects and feel ready to take the next step. You’re still getting used to reading patterns and sewing independently, but you’re eager to learn more. At this level, you’ll reinforce your core skills while exploring new techniques.
You’re happy using a sewing machine and have a few completed garments or projects under your belt. You might be ready to tackle more advanced techniques, refine your finishes, or make pattern adjustments. These classes offer more complex projects and the chance to deepen your knowledge with support and guidance as needed.
