Description

Leicestershire sewcial

A social non-tutored event. Join us for a fun day of uninterrupted sewing with other people who love to sew.

Bring your project your sewing machine and sewing kit. Meet up with your sewing friends and make new friends.

The ticket cost includes cake and tea and coffee. You will need to bring your own lunch. Tesco Express just round the corner if needed.

Sewing projects:

There will be space for everyone to bring and sit with their machine. You are welcome to also bring an overlocker, you may need to swap this with your machine when using to ensure everyone has working space.

There will be 8 large tables pushed together for cutting out and 2 – 3 irons and ironing boards available for use during the day. There will also be plenty of extension cables to plug machines into.

Bring as many projects as you like, its a good idea to have more than one in case you get stuck and need extra materials that you didn’t bring. This is a great opportunity to bring hand sewing, unpicking or other hand projects like knitting and crochet. There will be several tables set with chairs where you can unpick, natter and drink tea- the best way to deal with boring unpicking jobs!!

Sewing help:

This is a non-tutored event. Many sewers have lots of knowledge and are happy to help if you get stuck. If you are very new to sewing and feel you need a lot of guidance this may not be the right event for you.

Fabric de-stash/swap:

We will have a table where you can drop off any unwanted fabrics, ideally please label with metreage. You are welcome to take anything from the de-stash table in return.

This won’t be a monitored swap just an opportunity to pass on anything you won’t use and pick up something you might.

At the end of the event anything unclaimed will be donated to a local lady who make bags to sell for Loros.

Pattern swap:

The same applies to the pattern swap as the fabric swap. Unwanted patterns at the end of the event will be donated to charity.

Raffle:

You will be allocated a number when you book which will also be an entry into the raffle to win a sewing themed prize during the event.

Refreshments:

There will be tea and coffee making facilities available with regular and de-caf varieties available throughout the day in the kitchen area for you to help yourselves to all day. There will be a selection of biscuits and cakes. Please message when booking if you have special dietary requirements so we can cater for your needs.

Bring your own lunch. There is a Tesco Express just at the end of the road if needed.

Venue:

The event will take place at Countesthorpe village hall. Located behind the Library on Station road. The venue has good disabled access.
