Linen is derived from the flax plant which is a resilient plant that can grow in poor soil and uses far less water than cotton. Flax is a versatile plant. All parts of the plant can be used nothing needs to be wasted. Because flax can grow easily it doesn’t need much fertiliser or pesticides, though this doesn’t mean they are never used. Linen is biodegradable.
