The Sewing Room Has Launched!

This is a project I’ve been thinking about for some time – I wanted to create an online version of my in-person sewing classes.

My in-person classes are always a friendly, inspiring space where people come together for tuition, creativity, and friendship. It’s hard to fully describe what happens in a sewing class – the energy, the little moments of “aha!”, and the shared joy of making something – and I wanted to capture that same feeling online for those who live too far to join in person.

The practical side of an online class is also a huge advantage: you can replay and revisit the material whenever you need it, and I can really dive into in-depth skills, sharing tips and techniques that you can immediately apply to your own projects.

And so, The Sewing Room was born – and it’s now officially launched!

What You Get Each Month

Each month I post a catch-up video where I talk about:

  • What’s happened in the past month
  • What’s coming up
  • Ideas, questions, and tips brought to my attention by members

Then, there are two main videos:

  1. Technical Skills Video – focusing on a sewing or fitting technique, giving you the confidence to apply it in your own projects.
  2. Inspiration Video – either a simple self-draft or a pattern hack, designed to spark creativity and help you make the most of the patterns you already own.

Even while the videos are pre-recorded, I’m always in the background to answer questions, troubleshoot problems, and share additional advice. I also love hearing from members about what they’d like to learn – this helps me tailor the content to what’s useful for you.

Community & Support

A big part of The Sewing Room is the private community space. Here, you can:

  • Ask questions about your projects
  • Share photos and wins
  • Chat with other sewists and get to know one another

There are also member perks like:

  • Discounts on fabric, PDF patterns, and kits
  • Access to my Complete Beginners Course (6 extra projects, usually retailing at £75)
  • A growing Core Skills Library, where I share key techniques and tips each month, alongside fabric guidance and project advice

Wardrobe Building & Creativity

One of the main themes of The Sewing Room is wardrobe building. I share ideas and techniques to help you create pieces that work together, so whether you’re a complete beginner or more experienced, you’ll find something useful.

The subscription is designed to give you practical skills, inspiration, and confidence, all while helping you grow your handmade wardrobe.

Pricing & How to Join

All of this comes at an accessible price of £10 per month – a small investment for a huge amount of content, support, and community.

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your skills, The Sewing Room is here to support your sewing journey, month after month.

I was about 6 or 7 years old when I had my first go on a sewing machine, it was an old hand crank machine that my mum used with her patients, she was an occupational therapist. When it came to leaving school I visited a careers advisor who asked what I wanted to do next. My answer was ..Sew! Read more...
