The testers Lee t-shirt makes.

A few weeks ago I launched the latest Bobbins and Buttons pattern. The Lee t-shirt is a unisex kids t-shirt with three sleeve lengths for kids aged 12 months to 12 years. As always a lovely team of testers made the pattern before completion to check all the details and give me a chance to make changes before bringing it to you.

It is both one of my favourite and least favourite bits when we get to testing. Its a pretty long haul to get to testing stage so I am always excited to be finished and see how all the testers interpret the pattern with what fabric choices they make. I am also slightly worried in case there are any major problems or the pattern is a disaster for whatever reason. Luckily so far its all gone well and I love the results of testing Lee….

I Grew up in the 70’s and 80’s when buying clothes was less affordable and dressmaking was an answer to updating your wardrobe more regularly. My own mother was a talented dressmaker who made most of my clothes and my sisters clothes as well as a many for herself. I soon got involved with making my clothes, I loved the whole experience of picking out fabrics, trims and a pattern to create a new outfit, then going home to make a new garment or outfit. When it came to leaving school I visited a careers advisor who asked what I wanted to do next. My answer was ..Sew! Read more...
